What Is Free Trade Agreement?
Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) are treaties that make trade and investment between 2 or more economies easier. Singapore has an open economy which is driven by trade in goods and services, hence it is keen on forging FTAs with many countries. Over the years, it has forged an extensive network of implemented agreements with many different countries all over the world. Some of our biggest FTAs include the China-Singapore Free trade Agreement, and European Union-Singapore Free Trade Agreement.
As Singapore has a robust import-export based economy, FTAs bring many benefits to both Singaporeans and their foreign partners. Singapore-based investors and exporters can enjoy many advantages such as tariff concessions, preferential access to certain sectors, faster entry into markets, and Intellectual Property protection.
