What is the GST Assisted Self-Help Kit (ASK)?

The GST Assisted Self-Help Kit (ASK) is a self-assessment tool designed to assist GST-registered entities in managing their compliance effectively. It focuses on three key areas:

  1. Establishing GST Practices, which include People, Record-Keeping, Systems, and Internal Controls to ensure proper management of GST reporting for transactions.

Who Needs to Perform the ASK Review?

GST-registered entities can choose to adopt the ASK voluntarily. However, the ASK review is mandatory if you are applying for any of the following GST schemes:

  • Import GST Deferment Scheme (IGDS)
  • Approved Marine Customer Scheme (AMCS)
  • Approved Contract Manufacturer and Trader (ACMT) Scheme
  • Approved Refiner and Consolidator Scheme (ARCS)
  • Major Exporter Scheme (MES)
  • Approved Import GST Suspension Scheme (AISS)

Additionally, the ASK review is required when renewing any of these schemes:

  • Import GST Deferment Scheme (IGDS)
  • Major Exporter Scheme (MES)
  • Approved Contract Manufacturer and Trader (ACMT) Scheme

The ASK Annual Review must be conducted either by:

  1. An individual accredited by the Singapore Institute of Accredited Tax Professionals (SIATP) as an Accredited Tax Advisor (GST) [ATA (GST)] or Accredited Tax Practitioner (GST) [ATP (GST)].
  2. The GST-registered business itself, under the certification of an individual accredited by SIATP as ATA (GST) or ATP (GST), in compliance with the certification procedures outlined in the GST ASK Annual Review Guide.
