Can EP holders be appointed as directors in a company other than the one their pass was originally approved for?

Yes, Employment Pass (EP) holders can be registered as directors of another company, apart from the company under which their pass was approved, but only if they have obtained a Letter of Consent (LOC) from the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).

Holding secondary directorship positions in related companies, such as subsidiaries, may be essential to an EP holder’s role. Therefore, MOM typically approve such requests by issuing an additional LOC.

However, if the secondary directorship is with an unrelated company, the LOC application will be evaluated by the relevant government agency that oversees the industry. The LOC may be granted if the agency endorses the application.
